Strategic partnerships delivering opportunities

Governments play a vital role in building international relationships that enable investment, trade and long-term economic cooperation. In the critical minerals sector where projects have high capital costs, supply chains are global and investment is mobile. Government-to-government engagement helps create the confidence and policy alignment needed to unlock opportunities that industries can’t achieve alone.

The Queensland Government is actively strengthening relationships with key allied partners to position the State as a leading supplier of critical minerals and a key participant in global supply chains. These partnerships support investment attraction, access to markets, and research and innovation, while helping partner nations secure reliable supplies of the critical and strategic minerals and products they need.

By actively building connections with key United States decision-makers, advocating for Queensland projects, and promoting Queensland as a key delivery partner of the United States–Australia Framework for Securing of Supply in the Mining and Processing of Critical Minerals and Rare Earths (US-Australia Critical Minerals Framework), the Queensland Government has helped secure investment outcomes exceeding US$1.3 billion for companies to develop their Queensland projects. These investments are accelerating project development and contributing to more resilient supply chains for both nations.

As global competition for critical minerals intensifies, key partnerships will become an increasingly important source of competitive advantage. By investing in strategic relationships today, Queensland is creating new opportunities, strengthening economic resilience and helping shape the secure, sustainable supply chains that will drive a thriving critical minerals sector.
