Enhanced training opportunities for Central Western Queensland
In August 2024, our engagement teams hosted a roundtable event in Longreach to discuss the ongoing rural and remote pilot project which aims to enhance access to high-quality, face-to-face training for residents in rural and remote Central Western Queensland.
The program places a special emphasis on inclusivity, focusing on people:
- with disabilities
- from diverse multicultural backgrounds.
Key themes from the roundtable
Participants from across government and local training providers were in attendance and discussed issues, including:
- overcoming barriers to training
- tailoring educational approaches to meet community needs
- ensuring meaningful engagement with local employers and stakeholders
- strategies for increasing enrolments
- delivering accessible and culturally sensitive training
- establishing clear metrics for evaluating program success.
Training providers also presented the programs they are offering across Western Queensland.
Next steps
As the project progresses, insights and partnerships from the roundtable are critical.
They will shape training and employment opportunities for Queenslanders. This is especially important for those living in rural and remote areas.
The collaboration highlights our commitment to creating pathways for sustainable economic growth and improved quality of life for all Queenslanders.
