Strategies, programs and achievements
Disability inclusion
Our department is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment where all employees and customers, including those with disabilities, can thrive. Our Disability Services Plan 2025-2028 (PDF, 711KB) or Disability Services Plan 2025-2028 (DOCX, 3MB) reflects our dedication to fostering a culture of equality, accessibility, and respect. This plan outlines key actions to enhance participation, remove barriers, and promote the rights of people with disabilities.
LGBTQ+ inclusion
Our department achieved Bronze Tier status in the Australian Workplace Equity Index (AWEI) for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. This recognition is a significant milestone and reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.
Cultural and linguistic diversity
Mosaic is our employee network for those enthusiastic about supporting and promoting cultural and linguistic diversity in the workplace. Mosaic is committed to cultivating cultural capability, promoting inclusion, and fostering mutual respect among our diverse workforce.
Our Multicultural action plan 2025-2027 (PDF, 3MB) or Multicultural action plan 2025-2027 (DOCX, 3MB) outlines how we create positive change.
Domestic and family violence prevention
Employees receive education on recognising, responding to and supporting colleagues impacted by domestic and family violence with sensitivity and kindness through our bespoke departmental program, Respect starts here.
We provide paid leave and other support for employees impacted by these challenging situations.
Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples
We recognise that many of our First Nations people have considerable knowledge of land, natural resources and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations. This knowledge should be properly and fairly recognised in the employment and career development process.
As part of this commitment, we offer several Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cadetships every year.
