Projects
The Queensland Government is investing in the following projects to help improve infrastructure to support resource processing.
Queensland Resources Common User Facility
The Queensland Government is investing in a Queensland Resources Common User Facility that will allow businesses to trial production processes for commercialisation, enabling prospective miners to begin producing mineral samples at scale.
The facility will be able to:
- pilot production processes and research intermediate/end products
- train staff on equipment, processes and handling hazardous materials
- produce samples for customers
- assess potential by-products, waste streams and recyclable materials
- demonstrate processes at scale to validate commerciality and technical viability to secure finance, investor interest, off-take agreements and partnerships.
CopperString 2032
The CopperString 2032 project is a high-voltage electricity transmission line from Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid, providing energy certainty to the region’s burgeoning critical minerals sector.
The Queensland Government is investing billions into the project, which will include a 500-kilovolt (kV) line from Townsville to Hughenden to connect the North West Minerals Province to the North Queensland Renewable Energy Zone, the largest renewable energy zone in Australia.
